The gLOWCOST Collaboration is not only a cutting-edge scientific initiative but also a global platform for STEM outreach. By deploying low-cost cosmic ray muon detectors across diverse regions, the network provides hands-on educational opportunities for students and educators worldwide. Through workshops, training programs, and collaborative projects, gLOWCOST inspires curiosity, fosters international collaboration, and empowers the next generation of scientists and engineers to address global challenges.
The initial installation of the gLOWCOST cosmic ray muon detector began at Frederick Douglas High School in Atlanta on October 11, 2024, followed by the deployment at Sky View Middle School in Massachusetts on December 26, 2024.
During the international deployment of gLOWCOST detectors outside the United States, lectures and demonstrations were conducted for students in Sri Lanka and Colombia. We look forward to collaborating with teachers and students worldwide to build the largest grassroots initiative aimed at training the future workforce.
Near term installation for STEM outreach includes: (a) Westlake High School, Atlanta, Georgia; (b) Pope High School, Marietta, Georgia.
